Owning a snake is very rewarding believe it or not. I had one, she was the second love of my husbands life, and eventually she grew on me too.
We ( kids and I ) got her for fathers day as a gift for my husband. She was about 7 inches long then, she was so tiny and yet so scary I wouldn't go near her.
I held her for the first time when she was 3ft long and I fell in love, so soft and cuddly believe it or not, she wrapped herself around my arm and wrist and would sit there all day if I left her.

Feeding time was fun. Have you ever watched a snake live feed? If not, it is an experience.

Having owned mice and rats as pets earlier, I don't think that I would be too enthused with feeding time, but if you're into it, I guess that's your own thing

It is great to hear your experience.. I have never seen snakes at the time of their feeding. I have no reptiles as pets and I can not think about snakes as my pets.

I've always been semi interested in getting a snake for a pet. THey must be fun to handle. Feeding time would be an educational experience, but not something I'd want to watch too often.

whoa a snake i've always thought about getting one did you have to take out her teeth?or did you keep them in?if so has she ever bitten anybody?

My brother has a snake. I think its some sort of boa too. You can't remove their teeth - why would you do that? They don't sell poisonous snakes as pets, and you can get bit by a hamster or something just as easily. Snakes are really rather docile.

Snakes are such incredibly beautiful gracious creatures, even when they eat. Even though I love our little furry critters too, I find it weird people feed their not so commonly domestic pets with anything other than what the critter would find in the wild. A friend of mine has a couple of snakes herself and she would feed them frozen mice as opposed to live because of her hang ups with animal cruelty. I found it strange, I mean if you were a snake would you eat frozen meals in the wild? Not really, small mammals are a part of a snakes diet, it's nature. I just noticed how much people equate so much of themselves into their pets when we should be observing, nurturing and loving nature as it is intended to be. After all that is why people spend so much for the care of their pets, especially with their habitats to match the environments in the wild. And of course what if the shoe was on the other foot, would you be ok with eating something you were not accustomized to if you were taken from the wild and domesticated.

I used to take care of a Uro and she ate live crickets, it gave her exercise on top of the direct proteins she needed. And sometimes it was entertaining for her as she would literally watch the crickets jump around in her terrarium and amuse herself with them. You forget even the scaly pets need exercise and entertainment. Just because they aren't warm and fuzzy doesn't mean they dont have personality.
