My friend has a baby alligator, he rescued. What do you suggest feeding it? Its probably like 3 or 4 weeks old. Its a cutie but I have no suggestion on what to feed it. Should I keep it in my old fish aquarium for him Until he gets big enough to release to the zoo. I want him to have a fighting chance you know. I care about all animals.

I did a little research and found that baby alligators typically eat small fish and aquatic insects. Those things might be difficult to get on a regular basis...
Your friend needs to check with someone whether it is legal in his or her state to have possession of an alligator. I know in some states, it is illegal and some people have been jailed, even though they had the best intentions. |

Ok, I will tell him to call the animal shelter to come get it. I know he loves it though. Having something like that can be dangerous to other people though. I know he thinks it is the best intrest of the animal. It just that it will grow up and need to be in the wild and it will want to mate. When its mating season alligators can get very aggressive.

Hmmm...I haven't really heard about alligators being taken cared as pets. This could be the first time. There are in fact some States that do not allow the keeping of this animal for a pet. What I know is that it is illegal to have one as pet because of the danger it can cause. Even baby alligators can actually harm anyone.
