I wanted to share a story from my childhood about the first family pet my parent's brought home. My mom was currently working at a grocery store and next door to it, there was a pet store. One of the owners of the store went through my mom's line on her lunch break and told her about the kitten they might have to put down because she was sick and the vet fees were piling up and nobody wanted her.

My mom called my dad at home and told him about it, so all of us kids (my two brothers and myself) were rounded up into the car and met up with mom once she got off work. We went into the pet store and saw the most beautiful siamese kitten with the biggest blue eyes and the sweetest face... we fell in love with her instantly. The funny thing was that it turned out that she was the sick little baby the lady had talked about!

We brought her home that day, but there were many trips to the veterinarian in the following weeks and months to come. She was 4 months old and very underweight, having trouble keeping her food down. She also had a number of other problems, but we kept loving on our kitty and day by day she seemed to get stronger.

That was nearly twelve years ago! She's still alive and well, healthy as ever. Everyone agrees that if she hadn't been in a loving home, she probably wouldn't have survived. It just goes to show that a little love can go a long, long way for an animal.

That is terrific! You have given her a long loving life and she has been very rewarding to you as well, I'm sure! I love reading about things like this and it makes me love my pets even more when I think about all the others that are out there and needing a good home. We have got to take to heart and help these animals. It is rewarding for all in the long run.
