Default Human Names or Other Names

So, do people like naming their pets human names like Sally and Joe, or do they like calling them other types like Smokey and Bandit?

I always like calling my cats things that describe them a bit. I once had a mean old tom cat I named Otis, and then I promptly met a nice man named Otis! I felt bad about having a mean cat named the same as him.

All of our pets have had "pet names" so, not typical human first names. We had a dog named Stoli (we adopted him, it wasn't our choice to name him after vodka) a dog named Daisy, and our new kitten is Ortiz for the Boston Red Sox slugger!

We call our cats after a name of a famous person. Some we named after their unusual behavior. While the new one we named after the character of the famous television show.

That's interesting Dodong, what are their names? Some good names I've heard after people are Ozzy (Osbourne) and Sammy (Sosa)

I guess its really up to the owner what to name the pets, but I like pet names, its much more adoreable, but if you want to call your dog jim or james, I would not like that as much, its too plain.

I think you're right Pet_Lover. It doesn't matter what name do we call our cats as long as it suits them. I like that.

Well, that is very true pet-lover. Sometimes I call a kitten one name, but by the time they grow up and show their true personality, the name doesn't fit them anymore, though.

I like to name them 'pet names' or names after book characters or something like that. I don't really like naming pets plain human names like Bob or Mary though.
