I have a small amount of knowledge in the japanese language, and my last two cats have been named after japanese names. The first was "Yuna", which is a popular girls' name in Japan, and the second is "Hime" (pronounced 'He-may'), which is the japanese word for "Princess". I've received a lot of compliments on their unique names, so I thought I would offer some names that are common in Japan. If you guys know some in other languages, feel free to add on to the list!
Japanese Names: Hime ("Princess") Aiko (little love or "beloved") Ayame ("Iris") Chiyo ("Eternal") Hoshi ("Star" or Hoshiko for "Star Child") Keiko ("Adored one") Nami ("Wave") Satu ("Sugar") Sakura ("Cherry Blossom") |

I almost reconized Keiko right away. That was the name of the whale that played willy in Free Willy. These indeed are very pretty names. I here Sakura almost every day from the forums I use outside of this one. Some of the names I have Heard but some I have not. Now I Know some of the meanings to these names.
