Default Naming pets with people names

Do you see many pets with names that are traditionally given to people? Names like John or Amy or something like that.
My son wanted to name our dog Michael but I just couldn't go for it. Other names I can see crossing over, but this one just didn't work for me.

It is fairly common for a pet to have a human name. Some pet owners name their pets after a person that they know thats special to them. My friends dog is named alissa for his moms name. She passed away when he was 12 but he named his dog after her for memorial

Michael is a very common name for an animal. Some owners name them mikey and mike or even Myke. So traditional human names are just what they are just names. If you think about it really Names are just words that corrispond to something. I agree with chemikal some owners name their pets after a lost son or person that they want to remember

I agree. There are a lot of people who name pets after someone they know. I've got a new pup last year, and I name her Susie. I got her from a colleague. And if the name weren't cute, I'd probably have picked some other name for her.

A lot of people really choose cute names if they don't want to name their pets after a person that they've known. Sometimes people name their pet after the first thing that comes on their mind. We usually do that.
