I like giving my pets funny names, like the 'Admiral.' Well hey, it was funny to me. At the time, anyway.

It's fun to make up names, though sometimes it's very challenging.

Usually we name pets according to how they look. Once my dog gave birth to a litter of 3, one of them was white so we called him snow, one was brown so we called him chocolate, the 3rd had spots so we called him checkers.
