I agree, my heart goes out to anyone here who has lost a beloved pet... they really are like family, and when they go, we lose a part of ourselves as well. It's nice to have a forum for moral support when things don't go the way we anticipated... don't hesitate to make good use of it, that's why it's here.

Yes, unfortunately, pets can't stay with us forever. Like all living things, they will die at some point. It is just too bad when a pet dies due to an accident. We are not prepared for it. We can't help not to be sad, because we feels like a part of us has died also.
But if my pet is in a lot of pain and will never get better, I will allow them to die. Before, just to make it go more quickly and without pain, I asked the vet to give my pet some medicine that will help it die. Still, deciding to help a pet die is a hard thing to do. I'm still lucky for having my pet until now. But this is just for now. I agree with everybody's perception that we love our pets just like a family member. However, they can't live with us just like a normal family member. They have a shorter lifespan relative to us and we just have to accept that.

I used to say to my pets hope that they will stay with me at least 15-20 years. When my first pug dog died it was a terrible day for me. I have done all my best in order for him to survive. I did not even report to work on the day he died because it hurts me so much. As if i dont want to leave him alone. I understand what other feel for the lost of their pets.

It's really sad to lose a pet that you valued most for years. Whom you used to talk all your problems and share you happy moments with. They are just like humans and even sometimes they are better than humans because they are there by your side always. I don't have a pet to mourn since the last pet I've taken care of was when I was at my teens though it really hurts a lot to see them dying.
