Default what's good food to feed hamsters?

Hello,

I know, Proper feeding is vitally important to good hamster health. The unhealthy things like salt, sugar or fats are not good for them. Can any one guide me?

Hamster loves cabbage but due to many concerns of liver cancer or
something like that, i rarely feed them cabbage. Hard wood chewys, my hamster don't like this that much.

Another one is Carrot, they like it...

Is feeding these veggies and nuts etc. better than feedinga comercially prepared hamster food? I am considering getting some small mammals, and always see the boxes and bags of hamster nuggets and things like that. Are those not so healthy?

Hamsters should not be fed on left-over food or in fact, even human food.
It’s best to buy hamster mix from the market.
Water chestnuts, apples, hard boiled eggs, broccoli and cauliflower are some delicious and healthy treats for your hamster. Chocolates, garlic and onions should be strictly avoided.

I never knew about the EGGS! I have a friend with a couple of hamsters and I will tell them about this. She just got them a couple of months ago and she will be interested in this great food list. I am referring her to this website so that she can take a look here.

Just wanted to share something that I heard from a friend yesterday. Make sure you remove any fruits or vegetables that remain in his cage after two days. Food that has turned moldy can be harmful for hamsters.

Hamsters should be fed adequately. You need to make sure that they have enough food and water supply. I recommend feeding hamsters with dry foods such as corn, pellets, sunflower seeds, a variety of small seeds, whole wheats and whole oats. They can also be fed with pea and peanuts. It is also best to feed them with fresh foods everyday.

The mix is the staple of a good diet, but should be supplemented daily with small amounts of fresh vegetables. Carrots, cabbage, celery, cauliflower and broccoli are recommended and a portion of timothy hay two or three times a week is also a good idea. Avoid foods such as iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, chocolate, raw beans, potatoes, as well as sugary or salty foods. Fresh fruits should be given only as treats, and only in small amounts.

You can be a little more generous with yogurt treats, and some hamsters will even enjoy nibbling on a dog biscuit once a week. And just to be sure we haven’t missed any important nutrients, a vitamin supplement will ensure your hamster or gerbil receives all the necessary vitamins and minerals to live a long, healthy life. This is especially important if they are finicky eaters. Since hamsters are nocturnal, it is best to feed them at dusk, when they wake up and fresh water should be available at ALL TIMES and from a position your hamster can reach comfortably. Vitamin drops, which can be added to the water, are beneficial to the hamster as well. Since hamsters have a thing for nibbling, putting wood treat sticks in his cage will satisfy their natural chewing instincts. Just be sure not to use treated wood for chewing sticks; those chemicals are good for your wood, bad for your pet.
