Default Angel Fish

I love having angelfish when I had an aquarium. But I noticed that it dies easily. Is there a way to prevent this? Buying a new fish every now and then is really costly but I love to have an angelfish around.

You mean these ?

They need very high fish tanks. As you can see their fins are large and they don't like to live in small fish tanks. It is important that they can have lots of
space so their fins don't touch the ground or plants all the time.

I think it would be very cute to have and take care of this fish. I've only see this in some petshops and I never knew that they are really sensitive and must be taken care well.

You’re right Phil. Aren’t they lovely? I think my fish tank was big enough to accommodate for their beautiful fins but still, we experience a dying angelfish every now and then.

Aside from a big enough tank, the tank needs to be checked daily to make sure it is clean and disease free. Jaimeson Vail wrote an excellent article for ezinearticles, here's a good how to section on checking daily:

"So let’s begin by identifying the daily tasks of checking your angelfish.

Of course, you will need to feed your angels every day (2 to 3 times in fact). The amount of food you give them will depend upon how many fish you have. You will get an idea of this over time. As a general rule of thumb, the food you give them should be all eaten up within two minutes.

Another daily task that you will have is to check to see if your angelfish are looking healthy and behaving the way they normally do. A good time to do this is at feeding time. Some signs to look out for include; - angelfish show their eagerness when they see someone nearby - at feeding time, they swim back and forth to attract attention - they will come up to the top of the tank, expecting food - their physical appearance hasn’t changed

It is important to point out that you need to check that all your angelfish are behaving normally. And the best way to this is by observing your angelfish’s behaviour. Over time you will notice what is normal and what is not.

Check to see if they are all there. If there is one missing, then it may be because it is sick. At this time, you may be able to take action to treat it.

Another daily task for you to do is to check that the filters are working as required, the light is working and that the temperature of the water is close to the ideal temperature of 80 degrees Fahrenheit or to that which you have set your aquarium heater at. If any of these are not as they should be, then you need to take immediate action to fix them. The water does not need to be tested, but if you suspect that something is not quite right, check it."
