I think the selling of a animal for monetary gain is despicable. I think animals are just like humans. I could never sell a animal. I probably give it away but could never sell an animal. What do you all think? Have you sold a pet before and why? I know some people breed animals for money but dont you feel bad?

Chemikal, selling animals is common to some people thats the only way to survive. I admit selling like a little puppy may seem alittle bit wrong as they have feelings too but humans need money and thats a quick way of making a quick buck. No I havent sold a pet. I would sell a pet if I had too to survive. If it came down to me and my 4 year old boxer that I raised then no I would not sell him.

I would personally never sell an animal, nor would a buy one from anything but a pet shelter, but I understand why some people do.
I do find puppy mills and other such things quite horrible though. It is my hope that people that do sell animals have the animals' health and safety in mind when they do it. |

Most of my pets were either bought from a store or directly from the breeder. I think we sometimes forget that breeding an animal and caring for them and their offspring is very time consuming and requires a lot of love and patience. Not to mention that most breeders have to take care of the shots and initial vet bills until the animal is sold, and all of that adds up.
Everyone has a different calling. If your passion is animals, why not spend your life breeding and caring for them. Making money from it is not wrong, and shouldn't be looked down upon as long as the animals are in good health, physically and otherwise. |

Knowing someone had to sell dogs and other pets is a sad thought because for one, the owner had to do it and number two, because for someone to be sold, it would not be a nice feeling. But I personally do not think there's something wrong with selling pets.

I think it's okay if your pet has babies. I think it's a terrible thing to be seperated from your mother, but still. If I had a pet, who ended up having six or so babies, there's no way I could manage all them. I would have to sell them.
I'm against just selling your current pet for money though... that's pretty harsh. |

I believe there's nothing wrong with buying a pet. If you wanna have a dog for example, how else would you be able to get one if not from a store or from a breeder? People just can't give dogs for free cause taking care of them takes effort and money.

There are to many unwanted animals in the world already.
Go to a shelter or adoption group and adopt a homeless pet. I adopted 3 ex-racing greyhounds from an adoption group...they're the best dogs I've ever had, believe me if they weren't I wouldn't have 3. |
