Default How long will the Christmas tree stay up?

My boyfriend and I just put up our artificial tree and are making bets on how long we think the tree will stay up. This is my cat's first Christmas, and she is already very curious around the tree. I just hope she doesn't try to climb it or eat it. I have a feeling that it'll only get worse once presents are placed beneath the tree, as my previous experience with cats is that they will run off with the bows, tear into the wrapping paper on accident while playing hide and seek, etc...

How well behaved are your cats around the Christmas tree? I want to hear stories!

My cats tipped my christmas tree with in the first hour of placing it. They like the balls of the christmas ordiments they think they are toys. The best thing to do is to put the tree in a place where they cannot get the tree. I just broke down after buying so many trees I just got an artificial tree and placed it where they cannot go.

When I was still living at home, it was not amusing to wake up every morning and find broken glass ornaments on the floor. They would pull them off at the bottom and play with them until the broke, it was such a nightmare.

So far my cat has been pretty good. We filled a water bottle and squirt her when we have to, and that has worked well for keeping her away from the tree.

Yeah, they do not like water at all. It keeps the tree watered too so you do not have to worry about it catching on fire. Some of the trees people have they do not water. They should always keep their tree watered even if it doesnt have roots. If it catches on fire it would not burn so quickly. I normally squirt my cats if they fight alot. You know that hissing and pawing and stuff.
