Nine Lives

For cat owners, have you proven this old belief that cats have nine lives? I never had a cat before and none of my friends had one so til now, it's still but a question in my head if this is true. Hope someone can answer me.

I am very sure that this is just a myth. I saw a cat one day being run over by a car and it died instantly! I don’t know where this concept came from, though.
