How can you determined african love bird gender

I got two lovely african love birds. I dont have any idea how would I determine the gender of those two birds. I know for some birds you can identify them by visual characteristics. Someone told me I can do anal inspection but how would I know if its a female or male.

I also find it confusing, too. I was able to read an article before that it depends on the color of the skin in the upper part of its beaks. But when I got my pair, they have the same color of skin in the upper part of their beaks.

Most lovebird breeds cannot be sexed by just visual observation. There is really a need for professional aid and usually these professionals do DNA. But I heard that when they are somewhat mature you can tell their gender through their actions.

For finches you can identify them by the color of their cheeks. However, when I got the african love birds the vendor thought me how to do the anal inspection but still I cant manage to identify the difference.

How are you supposed to do the anal inspection? I think you really need professional help on that one or it may damage your bird’s anal. If you have a veterinary nearby, why don’t you drop by their office?
