I've always thought those parakeets or budgies were just so pretty. I especially like the blue and white ones. I was wondering how big a cage you would need for 2 or 3 of those birds? Or does that type of bird prefer to be in a big group like you always see in the pet stores?

I don't think parakeets would be too happy alone. They like to talk to one another. As for the size of the cage. I always think that the bigger the better really, but definately big enough for them to move around to different levels and stuff. You should ask at your pet store.

Parakeets hate to be alone and they could end up feeling lonely and experiencing separation anxiety if that happens.
If you still want to go one, make sure your cage is big and roomy also possibly multilayered like you see in the stores. |

I agree with them that this type of bird would not like to be left alone. If you could afford to have a bigger space for cage in your home, it would be better. But if the space does not permit you to have a huge cage, then at least a pair would do.

You know they don't want to be alone! They love talking to themselves in the mirror. It is so cute to watch them conversing with themselves. lol. You do not need too big of a cage for parakeets I think. Don't feel like you can't give them a good home just because you cannot afford to buy the big luxurious cage. I think they will be happy as long as they have a couple of rods to jump up and down on and they do love mirrors, don't forget those!

I have two cages of different sizes. I feel the bigger the size, the better they are. They will be comfortable in a bigger cage. So you have to check according to your availability of space how big a cage you can offer them.

A big cage is better in almost kinds of birds. You should ask your local pet store or a vet regarding the appropriate size of the cage. As long as they can move freely and can associate with one another then its fine.
