It's actually easy to figure out if your bird is sick. Swelling usually occur, you will notice it's losing weight. Loss of weight is usually due to it's being choosy with food. Sometimes birds just can't eat when they're sick. This is because they feel pain somewhere in their body. When resting, they usually are open-mouthed when sick. If you see any signs of illness, you must not delay taking it to your vet. Whatever happens, you should encourage your bird to eat and keep it warm. And remember, if your bird stops eating, it is best adviced to send it to a hospital!
