Are you referring to Bettas? You can actually put betta in the same tank with other fish species as long as the other fish species are not aggressive and do not fin-nip but you cannot place two male bettas in the same tank. Female bettas, however, do not generally fight with each other so you can actually put them together in the same tank. If you would still consider having bettas as pets, you might as well buy the female ones. This species of fish is one of the most recognized fish because of its colors.
