I don't have any specific method for naming my pets, but I usually name them based on the things they do the first week or so that I have them. I had named my cat before I gave him a nickname, so I just kept calling him by his nickname. I nicknamed him Monkey because he used to scale the clothes in my closet like a monkey to get to the top shelf.
