We had many, many buns sutured with staples after a spay. I prefer stitches, but the vet prefers staples. We've had several of them who pulled out staples and each case was different depending on how many staples were pulled, and how far into the healing process they were pulled. If the wound stays closed and you are several days post surgery, and your rabbit is remaining somewhat subdued, you may be able to avoid a return to the vet. If it's early in the process or many staples were pulled, I would play it safe and call the vet for his opinion. In a couple of the cases where we've had to return to the office, the doctor simply applied surgical cement to keep the incision closed long enough to heal sufficiently.
