Arthritis in Our Pets  » Pets

Pets are our companions in life, and after several years of being with them we come to know them like old friends.  We know them in so many ways, their habits and preferences, and their sometimes quirky personalities.  Pets are an absolute joy to have and to love, and as our pets start to age they go through the same set of difficulties that we face as well.  One of those potential ailments is [tag]arthritis[/tag], which even the dinosaurs apparently had to deal with.  Watching your pet deal with arthritis can definitely be sad, but there are several things you can do to help them deal with it and ensure several more loving years spent together.

Although your pets are unlikely to drink noni juice, there are several ways you can help improve your pets overall diet, which can drastically help an animal suffering from arthritis.  Of course, the best way to accomplish this is by changing their diet to foods that their bodies are designed to ingest.  Animals in the wild eat raw food, and spoiling your dogs and cats with unprocessed food is a great way to maximize the number of nutrients they receive.  Cooking food depletes it of many of the essential vitamins and enzymes that make the food valuable in the first place.  Buying high quality brands or organic pet food may help, but to really nurse your pet along you should make sure to get them a least some raw food in their diet.  Consult your veterinarian and ask about alternative diets for your pets to help with their arthritis.

Now we’ve all heard the statement that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cures, and in the case of your pet’s health, this is definitely true.  The quicker you can get your pets eating the right food the better.  There’s another proverb I find relevant, that says, “No matter how far down the wrong road you are, turn around.”  This Irish proverb means to me that it is never to late to start your pets on a healthy diet.

So if one of our pets gets arthritis there are several things we can do to make sure their condition is mitigated and their quality of life increased.  Keeping our animals healthy gives them a longer life with a better quality of living, and also means you get to spend more time loving them.
