Pets. They are our furry friends, our companions, and most importantly, our partners in crime when times are tough. While these all are completely normal characteristics of an animal friendship, there are new studies that suggest differently. Recently, the University of California issued a study that proposed the following: our pets look exactly like us. Do they actually resemble our facial features? While many find this preposterous, the University of California has proven such a statement.
Researchers have claimed that pet owners are more likely to choose a pet that not only physically resembles them, but also has a similar personality. Does this mean that if were grumpy and drool occasionally, we may choose a pit bull? According to these recent studies, this is certainly true. While this sounds quite out of this world, many people still stick by this theory. Lets just think about it. If you are overly friendly and love to chat, chances are you are going to pick a peppy dog. You know what were talking about -- the ones that love to bark all day, ride your leg, and have to be treated like a princess. For many pet owners, this explains more than they could ever say.
Studies have also shown that women who have longer hair, tend to choose dogs who are also long haired. Though most people cannot explain why, it is considered normal to try and find a dog that matches your look. What about the women who are needy and spoiled in their own lives? It is likely they go out and also try and match their personality. You know who we are talking about -- the women with dogs that are pampered and have more than the average human. Nails painted, perfectly tied bows -- you name it. Everyone knows that they are constantly looking for a soul mate -- someone who resembles themselves. Perhaps this also holds true when we look for our pets. After all, we would love to share memories with an animal that knows us inside and out, even if they cannot talk.
Next time you are choosing a pet, stop and think about how you are judging them. Is it on their personality, their look, and do you actually have any resemblance to them? If more pet owners questioned this when they were searching for "the one," they may learn a little more about themselves. In some cases, they may have more ease when trying to find what they are looking for. Ironically, the "perfect" pet may just mean looking in the mirror.
